Magazine Project Genre Research #1
The first magazine I chose to analyze is the one and only, Vogue. I grew up watching my mom and grandma reading several of these; when I was of age, I started reading them on my own, flipping through the fashion and beauty advertisements.
The cover layout of March British Vogue depicts one of the world's most well-known and highly desired supermodel, Gigi Hadid. Hadid is dressed in a one of a kind gold Versace gown. Her hair is semi-wet and the color tones of not only her outfit but her makeup are warm: gold and bronzey.
Advertisements ranging from Tiffany's to Alexander Wang are all found when you first open the magazine. These are all ads for a designer's new line or new jewelry a company is making for the season. The articles are found in the back of the magazine-articles on interviews with celebrities and "what the latest craze is" (as an example). Type of photos for advertisements either portray the product(s) and/or the models that are "selling" them. The articles are similar, showing whatever "product" or subject is covered or the celebrities that are written about.
